Goodbye, Summer
While I have felt it slipping rapidly through my grasp since district training started 3 weeks ago tonight is the official end. Tomorrow I start a week of PD with my new staff.
I am looking forward to the learning I will be doing and positive atmosphere I will be working in, but it is a lot of new to deal with. New grade and curriculum, new people to meet, new building to learn (seriously, 4 floors?!), a new population of students, and an entirely different way of teaching from last year through arts integration and thematic units. Also a new commute of 45-60 mins, which I will be cursing come the first big winter storm.
All of this will be SO worth it to be teaching in a place that respects me as a person and an educator, believes in and supports me, and will help me learn and grow with other teachers who share the same philosophical beliefs.
Tomorrow I start a new chapter in my life and my career, and some days will be rough, but tomorrow I also start my dream job. And for that, I am so very thankful.
